Welcome to the the North Pembrokeshire Energy Group web site.
The group is a fully constituted non-profit making organisation
formed from a collection of local volunteers who work to encourage
the use of renewable and sustainable enegy by the local community.
It hosts an Eco-Festival at Rhydhowell Farm, Boncath each year
and is investigating other ways in which it can help the local
community.
The group has a Chairman, vice-chairman, treasurer and sceretary and a
core of members who help to run the Eco-Festival and other local events.
General meetings are held at roughly monthly intervals, and working groups
meet more frequently as required.
The aims are to promote the use of renewable and sustainable
energy resources and encourage the development energy efficiency
within the home and business, to the benefit of the inhabitants
of North Pembrokeshire and the surrounding areas:
1. hold an Eco-Festival in the area on a regular basis;
2. promote environmentally friendly initiatives within the area
in line with the Environmental Policy of the Group;
3. provide a forum for individuals or groups of individuals,
businesses or organisations to work together on environmentally
friendly projects in the area.
The group was formed out of a PLANED-lead initiative called Plugging
the Leaks which aimed to increase the circulation of wealth within
Pembrokeshire by making people think about how they spent their
money and where.
This lead to the formation of the North Pembrokeshire Energy
Group. To find out the feeling of the local community towards
renewable and sustainable energy the first Eco-Festival was put
on in September 2003, and has been held yearly since then, excepting
2006.
The Group actively encourages local people of all ages to become
members.
Membership
of the Group is open to:
- Any person over the age of 18 (Adult Member) living or working
in the area;
- Any person under the age of 18 (Junior) living or working in
the area;
- Businesses or Statuatory organisations (Corporate Member) operating in
the area.
